JD Architecture & Design, formerly Jeff Dahlquist Architect, designs commercial and residential projects of all sizes and styles. We have over 35 years of experience in the Greater Puget Sound Region, in designing beautiful custom homes and businesses, in addition to residential and commercial remodels. Jeff Dahlquist is our Principal Architect and Owner. He has 35+ years experience as a licensed architect in WA state. Originally from the rural town of Enumclaw, WA, Jeff graduated from Washington State University School of Architecture in 1987. After working for large Seattle firms during the 80's and 90's, in 2003 Jeff left the corporate life to pursue his ambition of owning and running his own architecture business, and has never looked back. Jeff alone has created close to 200 residential and commercial projects in and around the Greater Puget Sound Area.
In addition to his work at JDA&D, Jeff has years of experience as a Project Manager. At Shultz Miller he worked with subcontractors and company labor providing direction, creating and managing installation details, and project oversight. As a Project Engineer with Skanska (formerly Baugh), Jeff was part of the Field Management Team working on large scale Boeing projects including Plant 2 manufacturing and engineering facilities, and a $60M office building. When beginning his career at NBBJ, Jeff gained a broad experience of the architecture business by working on commercial office buildings, tenant improvements, laboratory planning, and health care services.; all which enrich his commercial work today.
Jeff served for many years as the Chairman of the City of Enumclaw Planning Commission in addition to serving as an active member of the Enumclaw Downtown Main Street Committee.
Outside of the office, Jeff enjoys an active lifestyle which includes running, golfing, hunting, fishing, and travelling.
Janet Pennacchi Dahlquist
Office Manager
Design & Real Estate
Jeff's wife, Janet, is our Office Manager. An Ashford University summa cum laude grad, Janet came on board part-time in 2016 while working full-time as a Behavioral Health Case Manager. After spending 20+ years in social services, Janet decided to focus on expanding the services we offer our customers. In 2019, she obtained her real estate license and professional home staging accreditation. A Puget Sound native, Janet started her real estate career with PNW's own Windermere and after five years has moved to world-wide EXP Realty. She specializes in Seller Listings.
Janet's prior experience was in city planning and community development while working for the City of Tukwila Police Department, the City of Burien upon incorporation, and the City of Maple Valley and surrounding non-profits. Prior to that, her background was family law while working with firms in Seattle and Bellevue as a freelance paralegal and a CASA Children's Advocate for the King County Family Courts.
Janet has served on numerous school and non-profit boards, chaired local & international fundraising events, founded a non-profit to benefit children and their families in the Tahoma School District, served as a missionary in Central America; later returning as a Rotarian to spearhead three projects in Nicaragua and to lead the international efforts resulting in a complete overhaul of the Managua Children's Hospital Burn Unit after meeting an 8-year-old victim.
Janet's favorite past times are designing new spaces, creating music, and sharing her time and faith with family, friends, and clients.
